It was an early start today. Morning walk, check. Admin, check. I felt organised, a little more anchored than usual. The big focus of the day? Prepping for an online assessment. It wasn’t a formal interview, but the nerves still crept in. Funny how uncertainty does that to us.
But once I settled in and got going, something shifted. That initial nervous energy slowly gave way to a quiet confidence, a steady flow. It reminded me how often fear is loudest just before we begin. And how, when we stop resisting and choose to lean in, things have a way of unfolding with a surprising kind of ease.
This has become a bit of a theme in my life lately ~ the unknown, the hesitation, the what ifs, followed by moments of calm clarity once I allow myself to simply try. It’s wild how powerful the stories we tell ourselves can be.
Like when you say, “I can’t ride a bike,” or “This is too hard,” you build that story so well in your head that it becomes your truth. But the moment you actually try, and maybe even succeed, you realise how far off that narrative was. And suddenly, you’re the one encouraging others to give it a go.
We create these doomsday scenarios in our minds, worst-case outcomes that are rarely ever real. And when we get caught up in them, we rob ourselves of opportunity. That’s the part I’m learning to catch, the moment before the story takes over. That space between fear and possibility is where we get to choose.
Today was a simple day, most of it spent working through case studies, prepping, and ending the evening with a few episodes of Brooklyn 99 (also for “case study purposes,” of course). But in that simplicity, there was so much reflection. So much quiet growth.
If there’s one thing I’m taking from today, it’s this ~ Be mindful of the stories you’re telling yourself. Choose ones that support your growth, not your fear. Say yes more often. Take the plunge. Trust that who you are is more than enough, and that all things are still possible.
